Reading the classics: Bresnan

The next meeting of the Reading the classics reading group will take place on the 5th of March on MSTeams. We will be reading and discussing: Chapter 2 of Kayne, Zanuttini & Leu: Joan W. Bresnan, On Complementizers: Toward a Syntactic Theory of Complement Types. In Foundations of Language 6 (1970): 297–321.

Reading the classics meets once a month, the 1st Thursday of the month, at 2pm CET, to read one of the classics in syntax. We will be reading the papers contained in the book by Kayne, Leu & Zanuttini (2014), An annotated syntax reader: Lasting insights and questions. The idea is to reflect on which of the ideas have stayed around, what has changed, what has been forgotten and could be revamped (so, not really trying to do a philological study of the works, but take them as a starting point for a larger discussion)

Everybody is welcome to join! The meetings will take place on MS Teams. Since this is a recurring event, if you plan to attend regularly please drop an email to Roberta so she can add you to the Teams group.

This is the link to the 1st meeting (if you’re not in the group you won’t be able to access it, so please let Roberta know if you want to join).

See you all there!
